Get The Lead Out

I'm happy to announce that I have been invited to submit some of my pieces to a group art show called "Get the Lead Out" which will be showing at the Black Maria Gallery in Los Angeles this coming July.

Bm_gallery_exterior

The show will mostly consist of artists' sketches and pen & ink works which is super exciting to me because I have been mostly working digitally lately, so it'll give me a chance to slip back into my traditional roots for a few pieces. I have some concept sketches on the go already, I'll be sure to keep you all posted on my progress with the pieces.

The gallery will be donating 10% of the show sales to www.lunchforlife.org  to help raise awareness and research dollars towards a cure for neuroblastoma pediatric cancer. Ally, the shows curator, has been touched personally by  neuroblastoma pediatric cancer, a year ago today her beautiful daughter, Ava Jaymes, succumbed to the disease.  If you will be in the LA area, please go check out the show, and if you can't make it, please consider making a donation to Lunch For Life.

I'm Still Alive....

So, it's been awhile, but I'm back my lovelies! Paul, Avie and I were away for the last few days for our Wedding shower. We had sooooo much fun gathering with family and friends and we had our fair share of beer too! YUM! Well, at least Paul and I did....not Avie! :P We got a lot done there as well for the wedding, thank goodness. It's hard enough planning a wedding as it is, let alone planning a wedding in another location. It's difficult to do so many things without being there to SEE what it is you're trying to do, like the flowers or the cake. We DID manage to get the flowers all arranged though, which I was soooo happy about. Paul's and the grooms men's tux's are all dealt with and my dress is with the seamstress having some slight alterations done to it. We're having the flowergirl dresses made by a wonderful lady, Janet, that I found through Etsy. Check out the stunning theme dresses she has listed in her shop, she's truly talented! I am so excited to see how the little flowergirl dresses turn out!

I also completed a new Little Beanz custom piece, this one is of a little girl named Sophia. How cute is she? :)

Sophia_main_01

I have a couple more custom pieces that I will be starting tomorrow. Too many cutie patooooties!

I finally finished another Micawber painting as well, it seems like it's been forever since I had the time to work on one of these. This one is called "The One With The Antlers." I really like her, now I just need to figure out where to hang her in my place! :)

Antlers_main_01

I didn't do my usual "time lapse" video of the process for this painting. It takes a little while to put it together, but, if anyone really wants to see it....then I'll get off of my lazy butt and do it.

I have another Micawber sketch ready and waiting to be worked on, maybe I'll get a start on that in the next day or so. It's my birthday on Friday....so I might be a bit busy this weekend sitting on the deck with some friends and a cold one though...but we'll see!

Lastly, since I last posted, Paul and I got the beautiful Canon Rebel XTI that I was talking about! YAAAAAAY!!!!!!!! It's such an amazing camera, I can see the difference in the images already, and I still really have to learn how to use it. Here are a couple of "first tries" with it of our favorite subject, Avie!

Here she is this evening trying corn on the cob for the first time....she LOVED it!

Avie_and_the_corn01

Here's another picture from a couple of days ago at the park. She thought the dinosaur was the cutest, I think it might have reminded her of Baby Bop from Barney. What kid doesn't love Barney?

You'll be seeing tons more of these in the coming months! :)

April, April!

Wow! I can't believe that it's April already! Crazy how time flies! I hate to be a pessimist, but at this rate winter will be rolling back in before we know it! Ok, ok.....I guess I should enjoy the spring and summer first before I start worrying about that. Hahaa! The weather still hasn't been very good here, maybe that's why I still have winter on the brain.

So, I did another quick Little Beanz illustration today just for fun. Her name is Lexi, I think she's super sweet!

Lexi_main_01

Yummy bubble gum! I remember always trying to blow the BIG bubbles when I was younger, it was so much fun....right up until the darn thing would burst....all over my face....and all in my hair! Oooopsie! Really mom....I didn't mean it! Hahahaa!

So, Paul and I have been eying a this little beauty:

Rebel_xti_586x225
The Canon Rebel XTI. Want....soooo....bad! Mouth....watering! Hahhaa! Really though, we both would love to have this awesome camera. I've been wanting a higher end camera for quite some time now, well, Paul actually bought me a very nice Canon digital camera a couple of Christmases ago. It's great for the everyday type of photography you would do, like a kids birthday party or a good old gathering of friends and beers, hehehe, although it smacks an evil red eye on everyone. Avie is growing like a weed and I would love to start having some more substantial photography of her, not to mention all the amazing landscape photo shoots we could do around here. It would also help tremendously with all the promotional photography that we do for The Tee Party. I could go on and on with the list of reasons for wanting this camera and with all the expenses of our upcoming wedding, it might not be the best time to dig that deep into our pockets....we'll have to see how long Paul and I can hold out. :P

Speaking of how fast Avie's growing....check out my smart little bean!! These 2 video's were taken of her today and are the CUTEST!!!!

Hahhahaa....it's so funny when she points out her HAIR...ehehhee....all 6 strands of it! :P This next video shows the different signs that she knows. We've been teaching her the signs for certain words to help her communicate a little easier and she's really catching onto it...it's quite amazing!

*Sigh*  My kid's too darn cute! :)

Later may gators!

Freshly Baked..

I completed two brand new Little Beanz illustrations today and have a third one inked and ready to be coloured. Here's the first one, little Megan:

Megan_01_main

She makes for a great addition, I think, I especially like the fall leaves around her feet! The second illustration is a bit different than what I usually do for the Little Beanz shop because it's of ANIMALS! :) I decided to add some animals to the Little Beanz shop because every kid loves animals, both boys and girls. Paul and I never found out the sex of our daughter, Avie, during the pregnancy, so when we were decorating her nursery we went with somewhat of an animal theme since that would work with either sex. I had fun with this piece, so, I think I will continue to add some animal prints to Little Beanz every so often.

So, without further adieu, here is the first official member of the Little Beanz Animal print family...it's called Mommy:

Mommy_main01

Ok, now it's time for bed....Avie has a doctors appointment in the morning to get her needles! Boooooo.....not fun! I need to rest up and get prepared! Hahaha!
